Gazers is a music duo of Hangman (Robbert van Bruggen) and Taraen (Johann Hackl). They started making music together in 2019, formally founding Gazers in 2020. The aim was to create a unique sound that expressed both of their musical ambitions, despite their very different musical tastes.
Hangman had been an underground EDM artist for many years, releasing numerous singles and EPs under several pseudonyms, which covered numerous electronica genres, like Synthwave and Lo-Fi to name a few. These days he creates dense synthesizer carpets, melodies, and the more electronic sounding rhythms of the duo's repertoire. In his free time he enjoys talking about cars, and brewing the occasional craft beer.
Taraen represents the analogue side of Gazers. His main influences are the Art- and Prog Rockers, as well as Jazz Fusion musicians of the last century. He picked up guitar at the age of 19, having gotten fed up with just listening and singing along. In Gazers he provides vocals and lyrics, plays all the guitars and basses, and shares some DAW duties with Hangman, like mixing and making drum tracks. He enjoys writing, digital art, and messing with electronics.
Together they create strange music that defies genre boundaries with nonchalant ease. If you're looking for an eclectic and coloristic sound that challenges you as much as it rewards you as a listener, look no further.
