Gabrielle's new album 'I Am The Hammer' comes out on 27th June via Pride & Joy records.
Gabrielle de Val began her journey in the Rock scene in 1987 by forming the band Yin-Yang (later D’Val), which gained national attention after securing second place in the prestigious ‘Villa de Madrid’ contest. This success led to the recording of a nationally distributed vinyl single. Gabrielle took on multiple roles in the band—composer, lyricist, vocalist, and spokesperson—before the group went on a 20-year hiatus. In 2010, they returned as The Val and released their debut album Back, followed by Heading for the Surface (2015) and King Ocelot (2020), all receiving critical acclaim. Gabrielle performed across Europe and shared the stage with notable rock artists.
Her solo career began when Bruce Mee, editor of Fireworks Magazine, was inspired by Back and initiated the production of her debut solo album Kiss in a Dragon Night through Escape Music. The album featured renowned vocalists and musicians from the Rock world.
Originally planning to follow up with Cry Wolf, production delays led Gabrielle and Mee to create a new set of songs, culminating in the 2024 release I Am the Hammer, produced by Tommy Denander. One standout track, “Princess of Darkness,” was co-written with Roland Forsman of Remedy.
Gabrielle has performed widely over the past year, including appearances at Tower of Fire and Firefest, and has live dates already set for 2025. With Cry Wolf nearing completion and a new album already recorded, 2025 promises to be a pivotal year in her dynamic musical career.
