ESSEO is the pseudonym of melodic, Trap/R&B singer-songwriter, whose solemn and earnest yet vibrant sagas of past relations translate to ambient, hazey, themes of nostalgia, toxicity and love. Part of the collective Nothing Was Easy, ESSEO and NWE are ushering in a new wave of sounds in the UK.
Au fait with the music industry, the singer-songwriter arrived as ESSEO in 2014, returning from a short hiatus from recording music under the moniker Scorpio, who initially co-founded Luton crew ‘Vital Knights’, in 2004. The group released a string of classic hood singles, ‘Ain’t Made for Dis’, ‘Crutches Skank’, and Channel AKA club banger ‘We Just Entered’ (2010). From national TV coverage as a mid teen, to later years, ESSEO spent time interning at labels Relentless Records & Insanity Records, working on campaigns for acts like such as Not3s, Tom Walker, Sigma, Nadia Rose, Professor Green and more.
During these years ESSEO grew his industry knowledge, and has degrees in Music & Entertainment Industry Management (University of Hertfordshire), and Songwriting & A&R (Notting Hill Academy of Music). In 2019, ESSEO released his debut project ‘Eclipse’ & graced the ILUVLIVE stage numerous times, releasing singles like ‘Jumanji’, ‘The Winter’ & ‘Nexting’.
ESSEO released his second project ‘Neptunes’ in the spring of 2021, and followed this project up with the Neptunes Deluxe album, and the collaboration EP ‘Slime Summer’ with NWE members.
