Quindon Dan Tarver, born on August 4, 1982 in Plano, Texas, was an American singer who began his career singing in a church choir. His breakthrough moment came in 1996 when he appeared as a choir boy in Baz Luhrmann's film William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet, where he performed covers of "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)" and "When Doves Cry" for the soundtrack, which sold two million copies and earned double-platinum status. Tarver released his debut album, Quindon, in 1996 under Virgin Records, featuring the single "It's You That's on My Mind", which charted in Australia and New Zealand. He toured with artists such as Immature (later known as IMx), Brandy, and Monica, and contributed to soundtracks for films like Kazaam and Down in the Delta. Tarver made appearances on television shows including Good Morning America, Soul Train, and American Idol. In 2016, he performed "When Doves Cry" at a Los Angeles tribute to Prince, which motivated him to resume his singing career. He released new versions of "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)" in 2017 and the single "Stand Our Ground" in October 2020. Tarver was killed in an auto accident on April 1, 2021, in Dallas, Texas.
