The Pandoras was an all-female garage punk band that attracted the Paisley Underground scene. Paula Pierce formed the group after she met bassist Deborah Mendoza at Chaffey College in 1982, and the lineup added Gwynne Kahn and Casey Gomez. They released their first EP I'm Here I'm Gone in 1983 on Moxie Records. In 1984, they released the album It's About Time on Bomp! Records, as well as the single “Hot Generation” on Voxx Records, which received airplay from DJ Rodney Bingenheimer. They signed to Rhino Records and released the album Stop Pretending in 1986, earning a spot on the LA Weekly "Music Awards", and their music video aired internationally. They toured with Nina Hagen and Iggy Pop. They moved to Elektra Records, attempted an unreleased album titled Come Inside, and were dropped in 1987. A stint with Restless Records yielded the mini-album Rock Hard (1988) and the live album Live Nymphomania (1989). Paula Pierce died of a sudden brain aneurysm in 1991. Surviving members reunited from 2013 to 2015 and released the EP Hey It's the Pandoras in 2018.
