Hector is a pioneering Finnish singer-songwriter who began his career in 1965 with the debut single "Palkkasoturi," a translation of Buffy Sainte-Marie's "Universal Soldier." He achieved immense commercial success in the 1970s, notably with Hectorock I (1974), which set records as the fastest-selling album in Finnish history. Throughout subsequent decades, he maintained a steady presence in the industry with releases such as Liisa pien (1975) and Hotelli Hannikainen (1976), producing hits well into the 1990s. After a period of transition, he made a successful return with the 2004 album Ei selityksiƤ.
