Michel Admette is a French singer and composer born on August 3, 1937, in L'Étang-Salé, Réunion. Often identified by the nickname “Prince of Sega,” he performed in the séga and maloya genres. Admette began his career with the Trio Fantasio and released the recording “La Route en corniche” in 1964, which sold 40,000 copies. In 1981, he recorded the track “Met encor la passé”. Admette relocated to Paris in 1986 and worked for the municipality of Guyancourt. In 1990, his son Jean-Paul died in a rail accident, an event that was the subject of the play Séga tremblade. His discography included the studio recordings Mi aime a ou (1989) and Alé di partout (1995). In 2006, he recorded the album Spécial maloya with the Troupe Lélé. He was named Citizen of Honor of La Possession in 2009. Admette performed a concert in Mafate in April 2025.
