Il Giardino dei Semplici, an Italian pop rock group, was formed in Naples in 1974 by Gianni Averardi and Gianfranco Caliendo. The band's initial success came with the release of their single "Tu, ca nun chiagne" in 1975, a cover version of a classic Neapolitan song that peaked at number 3 on the Italian hit parade. Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, Il Giardino dei Semplici released several albums, including Il Giardino Dei Semplici (1975) and Ed è subito Napoli (1985), which revisited classic Neapolitan songs with modern arrangements. The group participated in notable music competitions such as the Sanremo Music Festival in 1977 with "Miele" (1977) and the Festivalbar in 1975, 1976, and 1978. In 2001, Gianfranco Caliendo co-wrote and co-produced the hit "Turuturu", which sold over two million copies worldwide. The band celebrated their 40th anniversary with a live album and an autobiographical book in 2015.
