Sergio Caputo, born on August 31, 1954, in Rome, Italy, is a singer-songwriter and guitarist. He started performing in local clubs, notably Folkstudio, while studying at university. After earning a degree in architecture and working in advertising, Caputo released his first single in 1978 and an eponymous EP in 1981. His breakthrough came with "Un sabato italiano", the title track of his debut album Un sabato italiano, released in 1983, which combined jazz, Latin-jazz pop, and 1950s Italian swing. Caputo participated in the Sanremo Music Festival three times (1987, 1989, and 1998) and collaborated with notable musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie and Enrico Rava. He released his first book, Disperatamente, e in ritardo cane, in 2008 and continued to produce albums, including Pop Jazz and Love in 2015 and Oggetti Smarriti in 2018.
