Ray Curenton has gone through quite an evolution since 2023’s Believer. Emphasized by newfound freedom and reconnecting with a desire to break out of the box, the artist has made a shift from R&B to acoustic-based music, influenced by his love for 60s and 70s folk and singer-songwriter music. This has all culminated in the creation of Ray’s forthcoming 4th studio album, which chronicles three acts: pre-adolescence, adolescence, and adulthood. Written entirely in his home studio on an acoustic guitar, the project addresses unresolved childhood experiences and is notable for its rapid songwriting process, with Ray completing eight of the songs in an eight-day experience that the artist describes as a “magical, spiritual, and metaphysical” event unlike anything he’s encountered before. As Ray advances on his quest for belonging, his music continues to serve as an invitation for other artists and creators seeking inspiration, catharsis, and elevation.
