Cargo, c’est mon mantra pour personne anxieuse face au changement. Tout simple, tout doux ! Bonne écoute 🥰
Simon Lachance embodies his contradictions to the fullest - at once lively, yet poised, thoughtful, yet intuitive - Simon knows how to bring his vision to life. A jack-of-all-trades musician, he is one of those people who work intensely, without fear of getting his hands dirty. When his gaze settles on the unspeakable, he sculpts its contours, he defines its surfaces to better color them and to soften their angles. As a skilled lyricist and drummer, he has taken part in a number of projects in the Quebec music scene - including Jérôme 50, Gabrielle Shonk, San James, Julyan, Kinkead and Raton Lover - Simon Lachance steps forward with a solo project fueled by his numerous collaborations.
With the release of his first album, “Le chemin des pots cassés” in 2023, Simon Lachance unveils a musical universe that represents the man he is: catchy and refined, accessible yet complex. As the fruit of a four-headed waltz, this first album emerges from the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist's choice to surround himself with hardened co-producers Simon Pedneault (Lou-Adriane Cassidy, Louis-Jean Cormier), Marc Chartrain (Patrice Michaud, Beyries) and Simon Kearney (Jérôme 50, Les Shirley).
A year after its release, and in the midst of a series of major transformations, Simon Lachance embarked on an artistic collaboration with guitarist and producer Dominique Plante (Ariane Roy, Adib Alkhalidey), an old acquaintance, now friend, whom life had put back on his path at just the right moment. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Andy Shauf, Blake Mills and Théo Katzman, he takes a subtle approach to capturing authentic sounds. The result is a rooted sound, imbued with a tender melancholy, carrying the finesse of indie-folk, where nuances overlap to create a captivating depth. His new single, “Cargo”, is a convincing demonstration of this.
