Founded in 2018, Paran Latan, which means "Tanna Women" in one Language of West Tanna (Natvaar), is a music band from Vanuatu composed of female singers and musicians. The music of Paran Latan is intended to reflect the diversity of cultures, the diversity of customs and external influences that all together form the diversity of Vanuatu. The songs mix the fascinating melodies of Tanna, the custom rhythms, the sounds of folk, which are highlighted by the magic and powerful voice of Joan. The lyrics of the songs are sometimes written in one or more languages of Tanna, sometimes in French or in English.
Thanks to the support of Alliance Française de Port Vila, Paran Latan released in November 2024 their first album: “Io apa” ‘Here I am’. Paran Latan performs regularly in festivals (FestNapuan, Fête de la musique). The band has had the chance to tour in New Caledonia (2019) and Santo (2022). Paran Latan has also been pleased to open the show of Joss Stone on April 24th, 2019 in K2 (Port Vila).
