"Love is like an ocean and I learned to swim early," laughs Ellen Krauss charismatically. With its self-taught singer songwriter talent and captivating way of delivering norm-challenging messages, the outspoken 18-year-old pop promise is a fresh example of our young DIY generation. On April 5, she debuts with the single "The One I Love".
Even before she released a single song, Ellen Krauss was praised by music icons such as Max Martin, Laleh and Carly Rae Jepsen for their unique talent for creating magic with voice and guitar as the main tool, when in 2018 she was awarded "Rookie Artist of the Year" at Denniz Pop Awards. Since the age of four, Ellen has been one with the guitar and spent the majority of her youth secretly writing songs in her room at home in Stockholm, or in South Africa where the family occasionally lived. With inspiration from diverse artists such as Ed Sheeran, King Princess to AC / DC and Bruce Springsteen, and hundreds of hours ahead of YouTube, she is completely self-taught. When she later started posting covers on SoundCloud, the response was huge. She was discovered and signed by the Swedish producers Christian Walz and Johan "Jones" Wetterberg, who started supporting her in refining her talent. Krauss was courted by several American record companies and went across the Atlantic for a number of meetings, which also led to a signing with an American major label partner.
Ellen Krauss is a playful, charismatic and emotional storyteller who, through her songwriter, wants to challenge the norms with which our young generation fights. She has always identified herself as a bisexual and struggled to deal with the expectations of the outside world on the social structures that a young girl should fit in. Through her stripped, cinematic and melodic music, Ellen Krauss communicates unfiltered messages directly from her heart, written by herself.
