Anja grew up on a large rural estate at the foothills of the Blue Mountains, one hour outside Sydney. Her youth was spent practicing singing and competing in a plethora of vocalist competitions, which she often won.
The NSW Education Department selected her to join an elite group of students for their TALENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM. Through TDP and the associated annual SCHOOLS SPECTACULAR, Anja sang at major events including for Crown Princess Mary of Denmark plus performed at prestigious venues such as The Sydney Opera House and The Sydney Entertainment Centre.
This enabled Anja to develop an ease and confidence when singing before large audiences. She also gained valuable television experience through her time on AUSTRALIA’S GOT TALENT and YOUNG TALENT TIME.
Upon finishing High School Anja decided to enter THE VOICE AUSTRALIA. She got through and was mentored by Will.I.Am of Black-Eyed Peas, who took her right through to becoming that seasons WINNER (2014). UNIVERSAL released her single “I’m So Excited”, which featured Will.I.Am and Cody Wise. Thereafter Anja released more tracks including “Anyone Who Had a Heart”, ‘Triumph’, “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes” (We Love Disney – compilation) and “Joy to the World” (Spirit of Christmas – compilation).
Anja spent the next two years touring, recording, and improving her song writing skills. As a dual citizen she often travelled between Australia and Denmark. Anja’s next big goal was to represent Denmark in the EUROVISION SONG CONTEST. This took two attempts. First in 2016 and then eventually winning the MELODY GRAND PRIX DENMARK in 2017. She co-wrote the song, "Where I Am," and placed in the Top 20 in EUROVISION. Following this international exposure and success, Universal released her six song EP, “Where I Am”.
After exploiting the many opportunities that came her way in Europe, Anja moved to Los Angeles on a student visa to study music theory, composition, piano and recording at MUSICIANS INSTITUTE Hollywood. This was an important period of growth for Anja both musically and in broadening her network. She made many creative connections with fellow songwriters and met with producers, agents, and managers.
Anja has now secured a US work visa and is officially based in LA. Anja is currently releasing new music as an independent artist, and she is looking for a new management company, record label, and publisher who wish to share in her vision.
