The Egg, formed in Oxford, England in the early 1990s, consists of Ned Scott on keyboards and vocals, Maff Scott on drums, Paul Marshall on bass, and Matt White on lead guitar. The group emerged from a local electronic dance scene and released their first EP Shopping in 1995 on Cup of Tea Records. After signing with China Records, they issued Albumen in 1996, followed by Travelator in 1998 produced by Tim Holmes of Death in Vegas, which entered the UK charts at number 126. In 2000 the band recorded the theme for the ITV series At Home with the Braithwaites, and in 2002 they released the EP Mellowmania before signing to Bar de Lune Records, a Beechwood Music subsidiary. Their 2004 album Forwards, produced by Benji Vaughan, was later issued as a special edition in 2006. The single "Walking Away" (featuring Sophie Barker) reached number 56 on the UK Singles Chart in 2006, while the David Guetta remix "Love Don't Let Me Go (Walking Away)" peaked at number 3 that August, marking the band’s highest chart position. The Egg performed at major festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival, and The Big Chill, toured internationally in 2007 and 2008, and contributed to the charity compilation Songs for Survival in 2008. Their live presence continued through the 2010s, culminating in a headline performance on the Glade stage at Glastonbury in 2023, solidifying their enduring role in the British electronic dance music landscape.
