NEW EP TRIBUS IN FEBRUARY 26th
Idealized by Gui Calegari in 2012 and beginning its activities in 2016, the Brazilian band Venomous from São Paulo, is a new force in South American Metal Scene, with over 80 shows in 10 countries, two Full Albums, one EP, and plans to bring another great metal record soon. Formed by Tigas Pereira (vocals), Gui Calegari and Ivan Landgraf (guitars), Renato Castro (bass) and Lucas Prado (drums), the band creates a versatile sound, putting together Classic and Contemporary Metal with Regional Brazilian Music, with an influence range that spams from the legends Milton Nascimento and Hermeto Pascoal until the Swedish Masters Arch Enemy and Opeth. It’s within this range of Musical Clusters that the band really shows its arsenal, bringing an original dynamic performance, and naturally aggressive interaction with the audience.
The debut album called “Defiant” was completely independent, mixed and mastered by Rogerio Wecko at Dual Noise Studios in 2018, and features songs like “A New Beginning”, “Within The Silence”, “Martyr” and “Green Hell”, all of those also released as Music Videos in the same year. The band starts its Defiant Tour, as the Opening Act for the Polish Death Metal legends Vader in São Paulo (BR), and a great concert at International Rock Day Festival in Botucatu (BR). The tour takes off to Europe, with 14 dates in Germany, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Poland and Czech Republic. Defiant had good repercussions with the Press, and even better with the public, appearing as one of the Top 20 Brazilian Records of 2018 by the biggest Heavy Rock Magazine in Brazil, Roadie Crew. Later that year, Venomous released Penitence, the first Single of their second Album, released in the concert with the Ukranian band, Jinjer in Limeira (BR), setting the turning point between Defiant and Venomous’ next work.
The year 2019 was marked by transformations for the band, with the departure of the original Bass Player, Alexandre Bonal, and the joining of their current bass player, Renato Castro, continuing the tour that would extend until July of 2019. Among the highlights, the single “Black Embrace” was released as the first Music Video of the new album, they also performed a Death Metal version of the classic “Nothing to Say” (from the Brazilian band Angra, 1996) with two incredible Brazilian vocalists Fernanda Lira (Crypta, former Nervosa) and May Puertas (Torture Squad), and a great concert with the legends Max & Iggor Cavalera, and Korzus at Audio Club, in São Paulo. After that, the band closed the second day of Megarock Festival at Foz do Iguaçu (BR) and played as opening act for Tim Ripper Owens (former Judas Priest) also in the band’s hometown.
With the release of “The Black Embrace” the band's second Full Length, recorded at Dual Noise Studios, mixed by Rogerio Wecko and released in October 2019, Venomous showed its new face, with a more mature sound, as seen in songs like “Event Horizon”, “Heirs of a Dream”, “Zumbi” and “Redemption”. The band then begins its new tour at Horror Expo, in São Paulo and takes a little bit of Brazil to Europe again with Embracing Europe in Black Tour, playing through Portugal, Spain, France, Swiss, Germany and Belgium. Back to Brazil, the band continued the tour over the country in December 2019, and the first months of 2020. “The Black Embrace” was a success of audience and critics alike, achieving the 1st place for Best Brazilian Records of 2019 (Roadie Metal) and 4th Best Brazilian Records (voted by the readers of Roadie Crew Magazine).
Currently, respecting social isolation terms, Venomous is taking part in several Online Festivals. In December 2020 the band released their new single and video 'Unity' which precedes their awaited new EP 'Tribus' that is scheduled to be released on February 26 2021 via Brutal Records (USA) Rock Add Records (BR).
