Damn Yankees is an American hard rock supergroup formed in 1989 in the USA, bringing together four already famous musicians: vocalists and guitarists Tommy Shaw (Styx) and Ted Nugent (ex-Amboy Dukes and solo career), bassist Jack Blades (Night Ranger) and drummer Michael Cartellone (future Accept and Lynyrd Skynyrd). Signed by Warner Bros., the band released their first album Damn Yankees in 1990, produced by Ron Nevison. It proved a commercial success, going double platinum in the U.S. and featuring their biggest hits: the hard rock ballad "High Enough " (#3), "Come Again" (#50), "Coming of Age" (#60) and two Mainstream Rock chart hits, "Runaway" (#9) and "Bad Reputation" (#31). 1992 saw the release of the less popular but well-received second album Don't Tread, supported by the singles "Where You Goin' Now" (#20 on the Billboard Hot 100) and "Silence Is Broken " (#62). After the tour that followed, the members resumed their respective careers: Shaw returned to Styx, Blades joined various projects with Shaw, including the Shaw/Blades duo, Cartellone joined Lynyrd Skynyrd and Nugent relaunched his solo career. A third album was partially recorded around 1999-2000, featuring Damon Johnson on guitar, but was never officially released. Never officially separated, Damn Yankees remained active with occasional reformations, between 1998 and 2001, then in 2004 and 2010.
