Harlow Augustine Brooks, known professionally as Snow Ghost, is a singer and producer from Des Moines, Iowa. Though starting off slowly, she’s quickly become a fan favorite with her uniquely powerful voice and ear catching production. Their voice is their shining quality - raw and powerful, yet airy and elegant.
Throughout the changing emotion of a song, she shows masterful control of their voice with their impressive vocal range and depth of tone. For most trans people, their voices would be an area of dysphoria. However, despite their own hatred of their voice, Snow Ghost has embraced it, moulding it into their own charismatic interpretation of what it means to be a singer and learning how to reflect her identity in her voice.
Taking influence from idols and friends alike, she seamlessly blends neo-synthwave with the dark, grimy aesthetic of punk and floating feeling of dream-pop, creating their own genre; a sound she’s lovingly coined as “80’s Dreampunk”. Her 80’s Dreampunk sound is characterized by pulsing basses, airy atmospheres, expressive vocals, and Punk Rock chordstacks. The 80’s Dreampunk genre is spearheaded by peers and artists, her and her friends alike: the likes of Revenant, Cuben, brvken, and Essenger, as well as other notable names with their own unique styles.
In early 2020, Snow Ghost started her journey to self exploration with the collaboration with Revenant, titled “Desolate”. As they learned how to properly express themself for the first time, Snow Ghost would then go on to release their most popular album of 2020 - “Interconnected”.
A story of lonely love, stolen stars, and self discovery, Interconnected is a glimpse into the never-before-seen world of what lights lie beyond the midnight sky.
