Hi! Thanks for checking out my page! Let's chat! @thearcticmusic
The Arctic is the creative moniker of Luke Vandevert, an award-winning Canadian/American songwriter and filmmaker residing in British Columbia. Originally from Ketchikan Alaska, Luke has an affinity for the ocean and the cold.
Having one foot in music and one foot in film allows Luke to create through different mediums of art. Whether it’s writing songs for life and worship or directing a friend’s music video, The Arctic strives to bring those worlds together under the banner of faith and friendship. Luke has collaborated with many talented artists in both music and film, including Brian Doerksen, Carolyn Arends, Amy Grant, Ryan McAllister, Coalmont, Marika, Carly Reirson, Achor, Daniel Kikkert, Alex Toney, and many more.
The songs that are written are meant with the various intent of life and faith. While some of these songs are used for expressions of worship, praise, and lament in a church context, The Arctic strives to bring songs that connect and build bridges for all walks of life. From songs of reflection on the body of Christ like "Diversity", the desperation of seeking alertness in "Searchlights" to yearning for peace in the midst of anxiety found in “The Same Thing". Some songs are written stories or thoughts that reflect on situations like "Lost Lover" which focuses on loneliness, while some are just for fun like his cover of “Come Together”.
