Istanbul-born electronic music composer, producer and sound designer Non Square, known as Korhan Oraydın is starting to strongly carve out his own position within the electronic IDM music sphere. This new project seeks to touch the lives of many by creating its own sonic realities where it combines different technical disciplines and genres such as glitch, techno, ambient and noise.
Korhan Oraydın became the co-founder of Turkey’s first game-audio studio, Dound Sesign in 2010. In 2015 he decided to focus on his musical output and took part in the Explorer#2 compilation of the French record label, InFiné Music. Shortly after, Oraydın had to take a professional hiatus after having been diagnosed with a health condition, in which he took 3 years out to recover. 2018 saw a promising return back to his passion, Oraydın began working on new pieces under his current stage name, Non Square and one of his tracks was featured by new media artist Refik Anadol in his 2019 exhibition, Infinite Space at Artechouse in Washington, DC and Miami.
Non Square spent his formative years working in many studios in Istanbul, such as Melodika, Jingle Jungle and Istanbul Studios, and studying music education at Bilgi University receiving his B.A. in sound arts and music technologies at Yıldız Technical University.
Having worked in different fields as a sound designer, producer and sound engineer, at the beginning of 2020, he met electronic audio-visual artist and producer Max Cooper through mutual friends Özge Cöne and Rival Consoles and through this meeting joined the London-based record label Mesh founded by Cooper. The 4-track debut EP titled "Hold On" was released by Mesh in November 2020, which premiered on BBC Radio 6 Music by Mary Anne Hobbs. In August 2021, his remix was featured in Max Cooper's Yearning For The Infinite Remixed LP along with remixes from Josh Wink, HAAi, Rob Clouth, Steffi, Fort Romeau and Max Cooper.
Non Square has a distinct sound, forged from his diverse background and homeland, this fused with an all-ready impressive portfolio of tracks, imbued with it’s own established sonic motifs and palette, have the listener coming back for a deeper listen each time.
