‘Real Dope World’, originally known as ‘David Oikowocho Odeje’ is a Nigerian-born rapper, singer, marketer, producer, sound engineer and businessman. He is from Benue State, Nigeria (Idoma boy like 2Baba). He was born in the city of Lagos and was exposed to the music industry at a young age. He grew up in Meiran, Lagos State where he attended ODF International Nursery and Primary School, and then Merry Kiddies Preparatory School, after which, he got his secondary school education at Merry Stars College.
In 2013, he got admitted into the Federal University of Technology, Akure, where he studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering. David has three siblings. Both his parents are teachers, who are currently retired. His father, Christian, is also a multi-talented Artiste and Film Producer and is heavily invested in music. He made sure his kids were involved in his field one way or the other. He took them to studio recording sessions. On one of such occasions, on his birthday in 2005 at a recording studio, Charlie Boy came around.
David grew fond of rapping in 2013 when he was an undergraduate at one of Nigeria's top-ranked universities. After leaving the school in 2018, he started doing music professionally in his early 20s.
He dropped his first single (Junkie For Love) on March 8, 2018. His fans attest to the fact that he is a dope story about to unfold [pun intended]. David Oikowocho Odeje is a wordsmith on a mission, known professionally as 'Real Dope World'. This Benue State rapper has all it takes and more to make a stand out impression. The graduate of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) hits the ground running with his mellow, soul-tinged cut titled 'LOVE IN THE CITY' produced by APV. APV has always been his main producer. Although, he works with other producers once in a while. David was inspired by Lecrae, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, MI. Abaga, Drake and many others.
His classic lyrical delivery and audibility married with the use of horns to drive home the ambience of the sound is a thing of beauty in every SENSE. From the impact of this genuine first impression, we hope the journey continues and leads us to something beautiful and everlasting.
