Johnny Schaefer is an eclectic Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter. He has a BA in Music (Composition and Voice) from California State University, Fullerton. While attending school there, he
placed third in the Orange County Vocal Arts Competition. He has sung backup for Josh Groban, Sarah Brightman, Sarah Vaughan, Pete Townshend, Billy Idol, Diahann Carroll, and others. "You Can't Hide the Light", a duet with Grammy® Award-Winner Melissa Manchester, won him the UK Songwriting Contest/Music Aid International Award for "Best Original Song" in 2021 and "Best Music Video" in numerous Film Festivals, He was the Offiicial US Nominee in the International Songwriting Awards and is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and The Society of Composers and Lyricists. He has collaborated with Producer Stephan Oberhoff (Heartbeat Brazil), Bram Stoker Award-winning author and lyricist Elizabeth Massie, FIlm Composer/Producer Geoff Levin, best-selling author Marianne Williamson, Carol Robbins-jazz harpist, Christoph Bull, Paul the Trombonist, Chad Ellis, and composer Lynn Kowal. His new song, "When It's Your Kid" explores difficult themes as it acknowledges the pain and frustration younger generations feel about the world his generation is leaving them.
