SKAI, a Ukrainian rock group formed in 2001 in Ternopil, began as a student project by Oleh Sobchuk and Oleksandr Hryshchuk, who met at the Ternopil Galician College. The line-up later included Yuri Rudnytsky on bass and Serhiy Nedashkovsky on drums. The band’s breakthrough came with the 2006 album Te, shcho treba, featuring the hit "It Can Kill You" that gained national airplay. Subsequent releases include Planeta S.K.A.I. (2007), ! (2010), Kray neba (2014), New Life (2016), and Rare Birds (2018). SKAI also signed with Lavina Music (2005–2016), founded their own label in 2017, and performed extensive tours across Ukraine, Canada, the United States, and Europe. The group earned multiple awards, including Best Vocalist at the 2008 NePopsa Awards, Best Rock Band at the 2008 Ukrainian Music Awards, and Best Album at the 2018 Best Music Awards.
