Having been featured multiple times on Lyrical Lemonade and SCMP Young Post, self-taught artist Jasmine Kelly’s soothing vocals are often compared to Norah Jones while her songwriting is catchy and riddled with underlying messages. Growing up biracial in Thailand, Jasmine was exposed to country music from her mother’s CDs leasing her to pick up the ukulele and guitar by watching YouTube tutorial videos during her school years in Hong Kong, where she grew to love The Lumineers and went on to form a successful folk duo “The Folk Ups” at 15 years old. She went from busking on the streets of Hong Kong to performing at Hong Kong’s biggest music festival, Clockenflap at only 16 years of age. Dropping out of university in Taiwan after her freshman year, Jasmine decided that she needed a change. After moving and enrolling in a new university in Europe, COVID hit and forced her into isolation. She almost gave up on music but was woken out of it by her return to Hong Kong, the city where her music career first started. Now with new tools at her disposal, she is eager to learn and showcase her unique experiences once again
