Andrew Howie, also known as Calamateur, born in 1974 in Scotland, is a singer-songwriter, producer, and music tutor known for his work under the moniker Calamateur. His first release as Calamateur was the 7" single White Light Unknown in 2000, which received airplay from John Peel and BBC Radio 1's Scottish Evening Session. Howie's early career also included releases with his band Oldsolar. In 2003, he released the EP Son of Everyone under Autoclave Records, marking a shift towards more conventional singer-songwriter material. Subsequent notable releases include The Old Fox of '45, Each Dirty Letter, and The Quiet in the Land. Howie has collaborated with various artists, including Steve Lawson, on the album Calamateur vs. Steve Lawson and The Trufflehunters for the album Signs of Life. His work often explores themes of faith, doubt, and hope.
