A pianist with a clear and refined phrasing, heir to modern jazz and the classical tradition, Enrico Pieranunzi stands out as a leading European master of the ballad. Born in Rome, he began with bebop before accompanying, from the 1970s onward, musicians such as Johnny Griffin, Art Farmer, Chet Baker, and Lee Konitz, recording landmark albums with them. A prolific leader (over 80 albums), he has developed a lyrical, swinging style, exploring trio and solo formats as well as tributes to jazz, film music, and classical composers.
