CATBEAR, consisting of best pals Zoe and Sarah, are based between London and Brighton, UK. Their unique popwave style combines 80s synth-poptimism, 90s riot grrrl spirit, 00s danceable post-punk revival, and the experimental and queer liberation of the 10s. Their lyrics cover LGBTQ+ life, millennial disillusionment, insomnia, unrequited love, and self-indulgent longing, with an “it’ll be ok in the end” undertone. Initially conceived as a home studio project following the dissolution of their previous band, their fiercely DIY spirit led them to self-produce and self-release their music, garnering over 2 million streams on Spotify alone to date.
