Barbaro Fines y Su Mayimbe is a dynamic salsa and timba ensemble founded on May 29, 2010, in Lima, Peru, by Cuban pianist and composer Bárbaro Fines Fortes. A Havana native and nephew of Manolito Simonet, Barbaro Fines honed his craft with renowned Cuban groups such as La Charanga Forever and Issac Delgado before relocating to Peru. There, he assembled a powerhouse band blending Cuban and Peruvian musicians, quickly captivating audiences with original compositions like "El Cuchi Cuchi," "De La Habana a Perú," and "Acuérdate." Their 2011 debut album, De La Habana a Perú, marked the beginning of their international acclaim, followed by Mensajeros de Dios in 2013, featuring hits like "No Me Lastimes" and "El Paquete." The 2016 release Te Vi Nacer included fan favorites such as "Vuélvete Loca" and "La Diabla." Continuing their evolution, the band released La Frontera in 2021 and El Poder in 2024, solidifying their status as a leading force in contemporary timba music.
