Voodoo Magic is a rock duo formed from the musical roots of rock and blues. They seek to create new sounds and experiences, trying to make a mark in the future, carefully fusing modern Latin rhythms with old school Rock n ‘Roll. They defy current standards and define a new universal genre. Founded in Guatemala City in 2013 by Rafa Fernández and Hermann Bernard, two friends from high school, they have collaborated with a variety of musicians from the Guatemalan scene.
The second LP, with thirteen original songs, will be released on September 2021. These songs were written during the infamous confinement of 2020 and convey the feelings and concerns that prevailed throughout those months. The home office days were used to the maximum to be able to record the demos and put together the initial phase of the project. In January 2021 they set up a studio in a house in Pacoc, on the shores of Lake Atitlán, Guatemala, and all thirteen songs were recorded. The following months they worked on overdubs and mixing accompanied by guitarist and producer Carlos Springmuhl (Hot Sugar Mama), at Wet Sand Studios, in Guatemala City.
The new album has the participation of several guest musicians, among them: Fernando Urrutia and Hans Noack (Cameo Dr), Dina Ramírez (Dina Ramírez, De La Rut) and Chali Hahmann (Oricalkos, Oxímoron).
