Based in Charleston, South Carolina, Chris Brown (plaine) has been making music since childhood. As a classically-trained pianist and fanatical wordsmith, his sound is a blend of electronic, pop/rock and singer/songwriter genres, having been influenced by artists such as Pink Floyd, Sigur Rós, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails and Public Enemy. He combines thoughtful, concise lyrics with catchy pop hooks and phrases to produce a modern electro-rock and classical sound with lyrical depth. In 2020, he began recording and releasing new music aimed at marrying catchy sounds with relatable lyrics.
Born and raised around York, Pennsylvania, Chris was immersed in music growing up, learning to play piano and trumpet. After college, he spent over a decade in New Orleans which included recording keyboards and playing live in the indie rock band, Endian. During this same time, he was also creating his own design and branding studio, Plaine Studios, with his wife Jacee. Being surrounded by creativity in music, photography, visual design and video for most of his waking hours, Chris decided that a leap back into music was long overdue when he began recording again at his home studio in Charleston in mid-2020.
Today, Chris is working on an album filled with songs about the modern human condition. Recently released singles "Postcard", “See This” and “I'll Be OK” exemplify the direction of the forthcoming work and how it aims to reflect the depth of the human experience in an engaging, modern rock way.
