One of the most electrifying forces in contemporary British jazz, Rosie Frater-Taylor is a virtuoso guitarist and vocalist known for her remarkable emotional depth. On her latest album Featherweight, Rosie effortlessly blends rock, alt-pop, neo-soul, new-school jazz, and folk, creating a distinctive sound. Inspired by legends like Joni Mitchell, Pat Metheny, Kate Bush, and modern rockers like John Mayer, St. Vincent, and Madison Cunningham, Rosie's music is a vibrant tapestry of influences.
Featherweight has earned widespread acclaim from KCRW, BBC Radio 1, MOJO, Hi-Fi, and Guitar World, and even caught the attention of Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page. Jazzwise also hailed her as “fiercely feminine.”
On social media, Rosie has gained a dedicated following with her trademark one-minute covers, leading to the release of full-length versions like her 2M streamed cover of Stevie Nicks’ "Dreams" and her jazz-infused take on Kate Bush’s "Running Up That Hill."
Growing up with a vast record collection from her musician parents, she was influenced by artists like Lewis Taylor, Zero 7, Seal, and PJ Harvey. Rosie began songwriting in her teens, studying at the Royal Academy of Music. Initially learning drums at age 8, she wrote her first song by 10 and started gigging around London by 14.
