100 Demons, a metalcore and hardcore punk band from Waterbury, Connecticut, was formed in 1998 by drummer Rich Rosa and guitarist Jeremy "Bubba" Braddock. The band released their debut demo We Are Forsaken the same year, featuring guitarist Sean Martin and bassist Jay McGuire. Shortly after, Bruce LePage joined as vocalist, with Steve Karp on bass and Rick Brayall as second guitarist. In 2000, they released their first album, In the Eyes of the Lord, through Goodlife Recordings. LePage left after this release and was eventually replaced by Pete Morcey. Under producer Zeuss, 100 Demons recorded their self-titled second album in 2004 at Planet Z Studios, released by Deathwish Inc., featuring new bassist Erik Barrett. In November 2004, the band performed with Donnybrook and Cast Aside in the US and Mexico. They announced a hiatus on November 1, 2005, citing personal reasons. Morcey left in 2006, LePage returned briefly before leaving again in mid-2007, and Morcey resumed vocal duties.
