Leon Ernest Vandermade (born June 29, 1991), better known as Leon Mobbs, is an Australian house music producer and DJ from Sydney, Australia.
Leon started playing guitar at the age of 14 and gradually developed an appreciation for heavier music. After spending several years in a group setting, Leon moved onto developing his own sound as an independent electronic artist. At the age of 16, he started to familiarize himself with several digital audio workstations, such as Logic Pro 8 and Ableton Live. This is where is all began!
In 2009, and at 18 years of age, Leon became of the biggest Australian artists on MySpace, having over 100 thousand friends, 10 million page views and 22 million total plays. He had one #1 single on MySpace and numerous tracks in the Top 10.
In 2010, when Facebook became the more domineering social network (and was a lot more prominent), and MySpace began to fade, Leon was forced to focus on his university major and lot less on his music making. This meant that he had to step away from the social network and reevaluate his place as an electronic dance music producer. Leon later worked on ways to reinvent himself and his approach to music making.
During his hiatus, Leon worked on many various one-off productions, collaborations and remixes. He also further developed his skill in music production and audio mastering.
In the early months of 2014, Leon was set for a comeback and released 3 tracks, including ‘Get Back’ and ‘Bust It Up’. Leon went on to have 2 #1 tracks and became a Featured Artist on the Spinnin’ Records Talent Pool. Leon is well on his way and is ready to take on the world!
