Born on December 21, 1998, in Lemon Grove, California, American pop singer, songwriter and performer Conan Gray became a YouTube sensation in 2015. Initially focused on pop culture and life in a small town in Texas, where he lived as a teenager, Conan Gray’s YouTube audience embraced his R&B-flavored music performances, encouraging him to pursue music as his main focus. In March of 2017, he released his debut single, “Idle Town.” With over 14 million streams on Spotify, Conan Gray’s popularity caught the attention of Republic Records, who immediately signed him. His first EP, Sunset Season, was released in November 2018, eventually reaching Number 116 on the Billboard 200 and the Number 2 spot on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. Beginning in March of 2019, he began releasing a series of singles throughout the year (“Maniac,” “Checkmate,” and “Comfort Crowd”) leading up to the release of his full-length debut album in 2020. The single “Maniac” became extremely successful in the international pop market as well as the United States, eventually becoming his first Billboard-charting single. Conan Gray’s studio debut, Kid Krow, was released in March of 2020 and debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at Number 5. The album was hailed as one of the biggest debuts by a new pop artist that year and enjoyed considerable critical acclaim thanks to the viral single “Heather.” Preceded by the singles “Astronomy,” “People Watching,” “Jigsaw,” “Memories,” and “Yours,” his sophomore effort Superache reached Number 9 on the US pop charts in 2022.
