Biography

The American rap artist Quavo is best known for his role in Migos, the platinum-selling hip-hop group that rose to prominence after the release of the track "Versace" in 2013. Quavo, whose full name is Quavious Keyate Marshall, was born in Athens, Georgia on April 2, 1991, and after initially showing some promise as a college football player, dropped out of school to concentrate on a career in music. In 2008, he co-founded the rap trio Migos with fellow rappers and family members Offset and Takeoff. With Migos, Quavo has enjoyed considerable commercial success and this has helped him launch a tandem career as part of the duo Huncho Jack alongside rapper Travis Scott. Quavo Huncho, his gold-selling solo debut, appeared in 2018 and climbed to number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. His work on outside projects has not affected his commitment to Migos however, and the band's 2018 LP Culture II became their second consecutive US number 1 album, followed by Culture III in 2021. Even though Migos never officially announced their breakup, tensions within the band arose after rumors surfaced that Offset was involved with Quavo's ex-girlfriend Saweetie. In response, Quavo and Takeoff released the album Only Built for Infinity Links as a duo in 2022. Featuring guest spots by YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Young Thug, Gunna, Birdman, and Gucci Mane, the album debuted at number 7 on the US charts. Following Takeoff's untimely death during a shooting in late 2022, Quavo resumed his musical efforts in 2023 with his second studio album Rocket Power, which was dedicated to the memory of his late nephew. Featuring guest spots by Future, Takeoff, and Young Thug, Rocket Power cracked the Top 5 of the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and peaked at number 18 on the Billboard 200.
