Composer, Pianist, and Recording Artist Dan Kennedy (b. 1970) has performed in 23 U.S. states, and Québec province. Since his Will Ackerman-produced debut EP LANTERN was released in 2007, Dan has received play on 250 radio stations, including SiriusXM and Music Choice, and 775,000 internet spins. Winner of a 2022 Global Music Award, a 2022 Native American Music Award (with Ancient Voices), a 2d place SoloPiano.com nod for his Christmas album AN ENCHANTED NOËL, and the 2019 Enlightened Piano Radio Album of the Year, his recordings have spent as many as 7 consecutive months on the ZMR Top 100.
Dan’s chamber music has been performed by the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, Essex Chamber Music Players, at the Summer Institute for Contemporary Piano Performance, and at the Aspen Music Festival. Classically trained at the Oberlin and New England Conservatories, Kennedy has always written music that is rhythmically strong and tonally accessible. He has released 10 albums of Solo Piano music.
Based out of an 1860 farmhouse in Amherst, Massachusetts, Dan still works to improve and perfect his composing style. Composing since the mid-1980s, Kennedy has developed a distinctive voice. Melody and harmony are central, with soul-stirring meditation and movement always percolating. Generally Dan has approached his hundreds of concerts with a classically trained formal sensibility, though along the way overlaid sparkling melodies and flashes of unexpected improvisation.
