Canadian DJ Julian Dzeko, sometimes
billed simply as Dzeko, was born May 3, 1992 in Toronto, Canada. He started his
career as one half of the celebrated house DJ team Dzeko and Torres, but struck
out on his own with the single “Liberty” in 2016. A busy 2017 found him
remixing a number of tracks from other artists including The Chainsmokers and
Coldplay duet “Something Just Like This”, Tiësto’s “Just Be”, and Post Malone’s “Congratulations”.
He also released his own singles including “Never Gonna Leave Me”, “In
Too Deep”, and “California”. He ended the year as a guest lecturer
on the music industry at Harvard. His biggest solo success to that point
occurred with the 2008 release of the single “Jackie Chan”. Recorded
with Tiësto, Post
Malone, and Preme, the song was a top 10 hit in Canada, the Netherlands, and
the UK. Singles like “Popcorn” with Steve Aoki and “Halfway There”,
yet another collaboration with Tiësto,
followed in 2019. In 2020 he made a surprising genre leap with “Both Still
Young”, laying his reliable house beats on a song by country superstar
Keith Urban.
