Sergio De Miguel is a young pianist and composer from Galicia, Spain. Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation Award 2019.
His studio project Espirales (December, 2020) fuses his Galician and Spanish roots with jazz and modern harmony. Influenced by Classical music and other World music, improvisation has a great importance in Espirales. New textures and colors are explored, new ways of approaching the jazz trio, by combining the different characteristics and tessitura of each instrument.
Sergio has played the piano since he was a child. Before attending Berklee College of Music (Boston, US) in 2019, Sergio studied Classical music in the Professional Conservatory (Vigo, Spain) for 10 years and Jazz in the Seminario Permanente de Jazz (Pontevedra, Spain). Sergio has played frequently during these years with his jazz trio in different venues, jazz clubs and Jazz Festivals.
