Dave Harrington (born in 1985), an American multi-instrumentalist and producer, studied modern culture and media at Brown University. Before forming Darkside, he played in psychedelic and indie-rock bands such as El Topo, Bladerunner Trio, and ARMS. In 2011, he joined Nicolás Jaar’s live band, and the two later created Darkside, releasing the Darkside EP (2011) and Psychic (2013) to critical acclaim. Parallel to Darkside, Dave Harrington explored solo projects, scoring a BBC documentary in 2010 and releasing the ambient-jazz EP Before This There Was One Heart But a Thousand Thoughts (2014). His debut album, Become Alive (2016), released as Dave Harrington Group, showcased experimental ensemble compositions. He is also known for his remixes, reworking tracks by Tame Impala, St. Vincent, and Daft Punk. Darkside reunited in 2020, releasing Spiral (2021) and Nothing (2025). Other releases include Tura Luna (2020), Hollywood Visit with Tim Mislock (2022), The Pictures (2023) and Skull Dream (2024). In 2026, he collaborated again with Tim Mislock on Isle of Palms.
