Ekhe takes bass music and reassembles it in his own image; a visage both visceral and beautiful. Inspired in turn by Eastern music and progressive metal, Jack Beattie works to reimagine the rhythmic structure of modern dance music, deconstructing grooves far beyond the limit of conventional 4/4 patterns, and complimenting them with cinematic synth arrangements.
His debut EPs, Octopush (Kindergabber) and Go/Yon (With Bells Records), bear the weight of years of research, but are immediately and universally accessible. It is this effortless quality that distinguishes Ekhe’s output, and the young producer is busy channeling it into a body-shaking analog live set that will surely have club-goers doing some rhythmic research of their own.
