Jezzy P is one of the most important figures in female rap throughout Latin America. She is recognized as one of the pioneers of this musical genre in Mexico, having formed part of the country’s first generation of rappers in the 1990’s. Currently one of the most relevant artists in independent hip hop, she has worked non-stop in the music scene for the past 20 years; bringing her talent and unique style to stages throughout the continent.
Jezzy is one of the principal driving forces of communal and independent work amongst her peers, leading the multidisciplinary collective Mujeres Trabajando since the year 2009; an organization focusing on the principal representative elements of hip hop culture in the country: rap, graffiti, breakdance and beat making. Mujeres Trabajando is recognized for its trajectory and impact in the Latin Rap scene, achieving an important international presence which has allowed her to bring their music to other countries.
Jezzy has also worked as a voiceover actor, in theater, on radio spots, as a storyteller and produced music for movies and television. She has been invited as a guest judge at various events, has presented workshops and appeared as a speaker on diverse panels, sharing her experience as a woman and artist in today’s music industry. As a cultural ambassador, has dedicated herself to promoting her collective’s work and the hip hop movement in Mexico, opening new outlets for this cultural and artistic expression.
