Biography

Born in Nice on 15 November 1982, Francophone pop singer Jenifer Yaël Juliette Dadouche-Bartoli, known mononymously as Jenifer, first rose to fame after winning the reality talent show Star Academy in 2002. The win paved the way for a recording contract and the release of her debut single, "J'attends l'amour" (I'm waiting for love), which was a hit in her native France as well as Belgium. Her debut self-titled full-length followed shortly after, which mirrored the success of the single by also reaching number two in France and Belgium. She went even further with her second album Le Passage (2004), topping the UK chart and picking up the Best French Artist award at the MTV Europe Music Awards that year. In 2005, the record was also named Francophone Album of the Year at the NRJ Music Awards. Jenifer continued to make an impression in France and Belgium with her third album Lunatique (2007), which reached number one in France and was awarded a gold certification in Belgium. In 2010, she issued her fourth studio album Appelle-moi Jen (Call Me Jen), which hit number 13 in France, and two years later added another string to her bow when she became a coach on The Voice. Three more albums followed, including 2018 effort Nouvelle Page, before she re-emerged in 2022 with her ninth studio LP of polished French pop, aptly titled No. 9.
