Yo Gabba Gabba! is a children's television show created by Christian Jacobs (of the ska-punk band the Aquabats) and Scott Schultz, 2 dads who wanted a fun creative alternative to typical kids' shows. Yo Gabba Gabba! follows DJ Lance Rock (Lance Robertson) with his magical boom box and his robot and monster friends: Muno, Plex, Toodee, Brobee, and Foofa. Music is central to the show, with the characters singing and playing various instruments.
Regular guests on the show include Biz Markie, who beatboxes in "Biz's Beat of the Day," and Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh, who creates "Mark's Magic Pictures." The show has attracted many musical guests who perform original songs like the Roots, the Killers, the Flaming Lips and more who have performed original songs. Premiering in 2007, Yo Gabba Gabba! is popular in the U.S., Great Britain, and Australia, leading to albums and a strong following.
In 2024, Scott Schultz and Christian Jacobs relaunched the series as Yo Gabba GabbaLand!, featuring the same characters—along with new host Kammy Kam (Kamryn Smith) and musical guests like Anderson .Paak, Betty Who, Thundercat, Portugal. The Man, and Kurt Vile, among others.
