Free-spirited, genre-defying singer Amy Cervini – praised as “an honest, self-assured and honey-dripping presence” by All Music Guide – continues to broaden the idea of what a jazz singer can be with five albums released on Anzic Records. Cervini sees music through a jazz sense but incorporates myriad styles ranging from reimagining of pop tunes (Famous Blue, Lovefool), to Country and Americana (Jazz Country), a tribute to Blossom Dearie (Digging Me Digging You) to an expiration of blues and womanhood (No One Ever Tells You). Time Out New York has praised Cervini’s work for “tearing down boundaries between old and new jazz styles, rock, pop, country and more – a reminder of Duke Ellington’s old axiom that there’s just two kinds of music, good and bad.” Cervini is also a member of the vocal group, Duchess, that has released three highly acclaimed records on Anzic and has appeared at festivals from Monterey to Jerusalem.
