Biography

Before lending his vocals to Armin van Buuren's Grammy-nominated "This is What it Feels Like" and Axwell & Ingrossoas' global Top 40 smash "Dreamer" as a dance-pop solo artist, Trevor Guthrie charted his first hits as the lead singer of soulDecision. Born on February 11, 1973, in North Vancouver, Canada, he began composing his own music as a teenager. Those songwriting skills helped propel Guthrie's first project, the pop trio soulDecision, to stardom during the late-'90s. "Faded," the band's biggest single, topped the Canadian charts while cracking the Top 40 in both America and Australia, pushing soulDecision's debut album, 2000's No One Does It Better, to platinum status in the band's homeland. Despite a string of successful North American tours with Destiny's Child, NSYNC, and Christina Aguilera, soulDecision's time in the spotlight proved to be brief, with the band's 2004 album Shady Satin Drug failing to match the success of its predecessor. soulDecision broke up one year later. Guthrie launched a solo career during the following decade, often appearing on other artists' material as a guest. Armin van Buuren's "This is What it Feels Like," which prominently featured Guthrie as a vocalist and co-writer, became a worldwide hit in 2013, cracking the Top 40 in 17 countries and going platinum in Australia, Canada, Italy, and the Netherlands. One year later, Guthrie earned another Top 40 hit in Canada with "Soundwave," released in collaboration with electro house DJ R3hab. 2017's "Dreamer," an Axwell & Ingrossoas song featuring Guthrie in the frontman role, was even more popular, earning platinum status in Sweden and peaking at Number 6 on the US Dance Club Songs chart.  Three years later, Guthrie teamed up with Canadian DJ for "Lightning."
