Ambulance LTD was an American rock group formed in Spanish Harlem, New York City in 2000 by Michael Di Liberto and David Longstreth, with Marcus Congleton joining a year later; the trio combined indie rock, dream pop, and shoegazing influences. The band’s first release, Ambulance LTD, appeared in 2003 on TVT Records, followed by the full‑length LP on March 23 2004, which sold more than 100,000 copies worldwide and established the band’s presence on the US and UK charts. In 2005, the album was reissued in the UK, and the group continued to tour extensively, supporting acts such as The Red Romance and later touring with Father John Misty and Brandon Flowers. In March 2006, Ambulance LTD issued the New English EP; that same year the band faced internal changes as Andrew Haskell departed and later Matthew Dublin and Darren Beckett left to form The Red Romance. The group’s catalog was affected by TVT Records’ Chapter 11 bankruptcy, leading to a lawsuit against Universal Music Group in 2008. Ambulance LTD performed reunion shows in February 2019 at Mercury Lounge for the venue’s 25th anniversary. The band’s songs, including "Stay Tuned" and "Heavy Lifting", were featured in films such as P.S. and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, while "Sugar Pill" appeared in Takers and "Stay Where You Are" was used in Grey’s Anatomy.
