After originally being a drummer back in the 80’s, Dick decided to move his attention to songwriting and music production and developed his craft over a number of years, in his own studio, before being signed to a label based in Chicago. Over a period of 8 years Dick progressed as a writer/producer, within the label, eventually acting as their UK CEO and worked with many of their roster of artists, both writing for them and producing their work. He then decided that the best way to make an impact in the music business was to take control of his projects and to learn all the necessary skills in order to create his own label which allowed him to release and promote his music to maximum effect. To that end, he also undertook highly specific training in both Google Ads and Meta platforms and began releasing independently in 2020 under the label name of ‘Dick Groves Music’.
His music covers a large range of genres, but is always radio-friendly, with electronic dance crossover becoming a recent favourite which has received applause from DJs around the world. Described as 'Club Dance' and 'Club House' his music has made consecutive Top 10s in 'Kings of Spins' DJ charts, with his 'Lost In My Emotions' and 'No Limit To Love' EPs. His music was described as having ‘excellent production and the perfect combination of melody, rhythm and hooks’ by the world-renowned DJ and music mogul, Eddie Gordon.
Since 2020 he has released an impressive catalogue of work which is now starting to bear fruit, as every month in 2023 saw DGM break new records for listeners and streams, and is clearly now on an upward trajectory. Spins on an ever-increasing number of global radio stations made 2023 the exciting and positive year that Dick truly deserved and he is now fully focussed on continuing that upward trend in 2024.
