The Wee Papa Girl Rappers, a British female rap duo consisting of sisters Sandra Lawrence (aka Total S) and Samantha Lawrence (aka TY Tim), were born in 1987. Before gaining chart success, the duo served as backing singers for Feargal Sharkey. Their breakthrough came when they started appearing on BBC Radio London's rap show hosted by Dave Pearce. In June 1988, their first record "Heat it Up" featuring 2 Men and a Drum Machine made it to number 21 on the UK Singles Chart. The duo are best remembered for the single "Wee Rule", which peaked at number six on the UK Singles Chart in October 1988. Their debut album The Beat, the Rhyme, the Noise was released in 1988 under Jive Records. In 1990, they released their second album, Be Aware, featuring the club hit "Get In The Groove". They continued to release singles in 1992 and 1994 as the Wee Papas. Samantha Lawrence passed away on 1 December 2024, at the age of 55.
