The Meat Purveyors were an alternative country bluegrass band from Austin, Texas. Formed in 1996 by Bill Anderson on guitar and Jo Stanli Walston on vocals, along with Cherilyn diMond on upright bass and Pete Stiles on mandolin, the group initially performed under the name The Texas Meat Purveyors. In 1997, they played a showcase at South By Southwest, leading to a recording contract with Bloodshot Records. They released their debut album, Sweet in the Pants, later that year and followed it up with More Songs About Buildings and Cows in 1999. The band went on hiatus in 2000 but reunited in 2001, releasing several albums including All Relationships Are Doomed to Fail, Pain by Numbers, and Someday Soon Things Will Be Much Worse!. They also released the EP Come And Take It in 2008.
