Jay and the Techniques were an American pop group formed in Allentown, Pennsylvania in the mid-1960s. The band's breakthrough came with their debut single "Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie", released in 1967 on the Smash label. Arranged by Joe Renzetti and written by Maurice Irby Jr., the song reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and sold over one million copies, earning a gold disc. The group's success continued with "Keep the Ball Rollin'", which peaked at number 14 on the same chart and also achieved gold status. Their subsequent releases included "Baby Make Your Own Sweet Music" (1968) and "Number Onederful" (1976). Jay and the Techniques left a lasting impact with their hit songs, which became dance favourites in the British Northern soul music scene during the early 1970s. However, they parted ways following the release of "Number Onederful" (1976). In 1996, Mercury Records released The Best of Jay & The Techniques, compiling the band's notable tracks.
